Kvrama

I came across Kvrama on twitter a dope artist from Corona, CA when I came across his music I thought he kinda gave me a vibe of like a east coast rapper but is from the west coast, the very first song I listened to was “War” which happens to be my favorite track off his most recent project titled “The Standards Are High” released back in October. War is a record that touches on a few different things from War to love to peace, sounds like its relatable right? That it is, what really stood out to me is when they said “War, War in the air, pollution got a N***a meditating. Peace is all in your head state, where ya loved not where ya tolerated” Now that I felt because it’s been a min where I’ve felt like I was at war with the world and finding out its best to be where u are loved and not just tolerated. I think the switch he has between the rap in the verses and the smooth melodies in the hook along with the substance put in the record is why this is my favorite track off this project. Gravity is another dope track off the project Kvrama didn’t hold back with this project he really dug deep. “Purgatory” & “Paradise” are also two records that stood out to me on this project if you are into music that gives u something to think about possibly from a different perspective than Kvrama and his music is for you click the link below to listen.

Recently I caught up with Kvrama and had a chat with him its always nice to get to know any artist on a deeper level than just listening to the music. As compelling as it can be when the music hits and u feel it, it’s different to get the words directly from the source.

Kvrama welcome to The Creators Room i’m honored to have you featured here and I love what u are doing. Let’s get started, Where are you from? How did u get started making music? Tell us a little bit about yourself and you’re upbringing!

▪︎ I’m From Corona CA, since I was young music was always around me, especially hip-hop, I started messing around freestyling with my brothers and cousins around like 5 years old but didn’t actually do it for real. It wasn’t until about 14-15 I started to try and rap for real and I would freestyle and my homies would tell me I was nice so I just kept rapping and started writing eventually

See like I said before at first listen I thought u where a East Coast dude with the way u sound but you hold a different sound coming from out west. Having that support system around u to push you towards something you were good at is essential. How did u come up with the name Kvrama?

▪︎ Kvrama is just Kurama ( the U is sharp ) I got that name from Naruto, since I was a kid I stayed in my room so whatever they was on I was on lol. They use to watch anime and Naruto would be on toonami. I funky with Naruto so heavy because I felt like I could relate to him being the underdog and underestimated in every sense but still persevering till the very end. So I started calling myself Kurama ( Kvrama ) which is the name of the spirit inside of him.

That's actually really dope, I have a good friend who really likes Naruto I've watched some but I couldn't hold a conversation about the show. That's very interesting how that happened tho. So what motivates you to continue to create music?

▪︎ I feel like alot of factors come into play that truly motivate and inspire me to keep going but most of all its got to be the never ending process of creativity. I know that i’ll always be able to get outside the box and create something no matter what. And that keeps it exciting.

How do u feel u stand out from you’re peers?

▪︎ Personally I think it’s my voice, when I get on a beat you know it’s not someone you’ve heard before. I have a distinct sound to me

That’s for sure. I tried to think of who u sound like and couldn’t come up with anyone. What’s next for you? New music? Shows?

▪︎ Definitely new music , videos, and shows in the works and much more ad time goes on and more unfolds, but i’m starting here.

Who in the industry would u like to collaborate with if u could pick anyone right now, and why?

▪︎ Logic, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Badass. I picked them because those are just a few artist I been listening to since a young n***a and honestly shaped me as a artist

What challenges have you come across along you’re musical journey and how did u overcome them?

▪︎ i’ve ran into many problems along those journey and still got more challenges to come , but the main ones have been my financial struggles and also personal issues that i’ve had to battle along the way. I stayed resilient through it all with them help of love from family and prayer. Knowing God had me the whole time helped propel me mentally and get me out of a slump and back on track creatively and in life itself

Tell us a Little bit about how the process was in making you’re project “The Standards Are High”

▪︎ Unorthodox and all over the place, but I never been the type to have a direct gameplan when doing anything. This project came together over the course of over about 4 and half years. But most of the songs were done about 2-3 years ago. I had so much confliction about everything about it until I just let it all go at one point and just starting making what I wanted to and then decided I wad gonna drop it.

Listen to the album now

What are some accomplishments you have had in you’re musical journey worth mentioning thus far?

▪︎ it’s gor to be the connections i’ve made. I got folks that i’m connected with now that have helped me continue to do this music at the level that i’ve always wanted to and climbing its been vital.
